Martin Crossin - uilleann piper

My studio is based in County Donegal, Ireland and I have been playing music all my life - performing live and working as a recording session musician.

píb uilleann

A memorable day in Tipperary for me at the All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil.

When I started on the pipes I was drawn towards the music of the Irish Travelling pipers exemplified in the playing of the great uilleann piper Johnny Doran and whose influence can be heard in the playing of Paddy Keenan among others.

The Falls Road in Belfast, where I grew up, was one of those pockets of the country where traditional music and in particular the uilleann pipes seemed to thrive, a real hotbed of Uilleann Piping! I would also travel to Henrietta Street in Dublin for lessons with Martin Nolan, a brilliant uilleann piper who was taught by John Keenan snr.

We all have an in built desire to be creative and in me it tends to manifest itself through music making, teaching and uilleann pipe making.

Perhaps, through this site, I can be of assistance to you in your own creativity by assisting you in your own original recordings, building on your knowledge with lessons or helping you to procure a set as we press on together with this unique musical instrument, the Uilleann Pipes.
